Use One Colour System

NCS is not a swatch, process or production-specific system, it can be used with any kind of material and in any context.

The reason for so many colour users experience disappointing results with the other colour systems is because they only work, and have only been developed to work, with one particular material or in a specific area. NCS is different. NCS works.

NCS is a facilitator of colour communication.

It is a universal language all users can use, appreciate and take advantage of.  The beauty of NCS lies in the fact that it works regardless of where you are, which language you or your clients speak or which materials you work with.

Colour is such a simple and powerful tool. We see NCS as a means to giving everyone the intuition to use that tool however you see fit. We refer to the way people use colour as colour communication. It takes on many forms but the essence remains to let others know what you are trying to say through a visually-led colour discussion. NCS is the perfect language for this discussion, as our clients will attest. Once you speak the language you can use it forever.

NCS Saves Time, Money and Confusion

Working with superior accuracy of NCS means that colour can be communicated easily and consistently between specifier, client, manufacturer and contractor regardless of location and material. The use of NCS from specification to completion eliminates confusion, aids communication and saves time and money.

When using NCS, it is possible to easily cross reference between different products, e.g. paint, powder coatings, decorative laminates, plastics, leather, blinds, vinyl and linoleum floorings, ceramic tiles, wallpaper, textiles, ceilings, or any other product.

As NCS is a system driven by colour, by using it as a bridge between materials and production methods it is a great way to secure a desired colour across the board. This is one of the main reasons for its growth over the years – it meets the changing needs of the increasingly multi-disciplinary market.

NCS is the perfect tool for the analysis of colour.

As any colour can be inputted into the NCS colour space and assigned a notation it is possible to look at the subtle nuances of colour use in great detail. As the NCS system was developed by scientists, designers and technicians it has a significant and inherent scientific value and purpose. There are many ways in which the notations, system and NCS products can be used in colour analysis.

NCS Integrates Digital Colour Use with Physical Colour Production

NCS Navigator is a web-based program. Explore the NCS 3D colour space, find colours, create palettes, import scanned colours from your measurement tool or export colours into your graphic software. NCS Navigator is available in two versions, one free limited version and one subscription-based full version. The full version has a 30-day free trial.

Read more about NCS Navigator or go directly and try it out for free.

We do however remind users that, because of the difficulty in configuring display units and monitors, to use a physical swatch or colour sample for reference.

NCS Works Across All Platforms and Sectors

Colour across different materials varies greatly because of the different manufacturing processes involved – so a paint in a particular specified shade will not appear the same as a ceramic item bearing the same colour name.

As NCS works across all materials such problems will be bypassed. Our colours are chosen for their compatibility and relevance across all materials and the accuracy will ensure that, when those different elements arrive for installation, all colour elements match.

Of course it is important to make sure you work with a network of reputable manufacturers and producers. While we may produce the tools for achieving maximum colour accuracy we are not directly involved in the industrial manufacturing process. We would recommend using one of our licencees to get the best possible accuracy.

NCS Is the Key to Unlocking the Design Process

If you begin with an NCS colour as a starting point for your colour design it is possible to work with other colour systems should it be necessary. As with cross referencing different materials using NCS a user is able to match other colour samples and swatches with NCS notations, thus ensuring that the problems associated with unreliability of other colour systems are avoided.
