To maintain its globally leading accuracy and consistency, NCS colour samples are produced with the most stable pigments and opaque lacquers. In addition, the NCS Quality Centre puts in immense resources each year towards further R&D. No material is 100 % stable, especially if the colour is exposed to frequent use, sunshine, extreme humidity, solvent rich environments or high temperatures. But there are measures to take in order to give your NCS products a longer life.
In order to sustain the highest quality, colour samples should be handled with care. NCS Colour’s own documented quality control shows that the quality of NCS colour samples, kept dark, at normal room temperature <23 degrees Celsius and at normal humidity, will stay unchanged and consistent for many years unlike printed colour samples that fade quickly. Our archives of NCS colour samples do not show any significant changes for colours over more than 10 years. Based on NCS Colour’s records and 50 years’ experience, the NCS colour samples, if handled properly, will not be affected by ageing within five years from purchase (and probably not during the nearest ten years or more). However, if your products are exposed to heavy usage they may need to be replaced earlier due to wear – before any risk of colour quality begins to occur.
