NCS Colour Academy

Sweden has a long history of colour research and teaching excellence.

The NCS Colour Academy was established as part of this legacy and continues to inspire individuals and companies, expanding colour intelligence and aptitude on an international level.

The NCS Colour Academy started with the Summer Course in 1950, which set the foundation for a Swedish tradition of education focusing on colour as a visual phenomenon. The NCS Colour Academy soon became the breeding ground for Swedish colour research and development of the NCS System. The Scandinavian Colour School (as it was known initially) was formed as a fully owned subsidiary of the NCS Colour AB in 1993. Today’s programme has been developed and expanded. It now includes a vast array of courses catering for the needs of the modern colour user and as a result has become well known across the world as a centre for excellence in colour teaching.

Students

Those who attend a course come from a number of different sources and work professionally with colours. They are typically administrators, architects, decorators, specifiers and designers but we have also welcomed individuals and companies from advertising, the industrial sector, paint retailers, painting companies, manufacturers, municipal authorities and country and local councils.

Some of the international companies who have benefitted from attending the NCS Colour Academy include: Benjamin Moore (USA), CFCA (China), Chinese Culture University (Taiwan), Ewha Woman University (Seoul, Korea), Hong Kong Housing Authority (Hong Kong), IBTP (France), IKEA (Sweden and globally), Jotun Paints (Dubai, Kuala Lumpar & Suadi Arabia), Morton Powder Coatings (USA), Sony Ericsson (Sweden), QYQH (China), Umeå Institute of Design, Umeå University (Sweden), Unilever (India), Volvo (Sweden) and Yon Sei University (Korea).
